You can start the process by filling out our online adoption application. Once approved, we’ll schedule a meet-and-greet to ensure the pet is a good fit for your home. Check out our ADOPT page for more information. 

Our adoption fee typically covers spay/neuter surgery, vaccinations, microchipping, and a basic health check.

Yes! We offer foster-to-adopt programs so you can spend time with the pet before making a final decision. Check out our FOSTER page for more information.

No, we only take in dogs and cats.

NCHS is not a veterinary clinic, but we can connect you with trusted, low-cost options in the area. Local resources include the HELP Clinic, West Mobile Vet, and UrgentVet.

NCHS does not have a trapper on staff, but we recommend reaching out to Whiskers-N-Paws for assistance with feral cat trapping. They have the resources and expertise to safely and humanely manage feral cats in our community.

If you find a stray or lost animal, the first step is to contact Animal Control so the animal can be safely cared for and given the best chance to be reunited with its owner.

Absolutely. We gladly accept food, toys, bedding, and cleaning supplies. Please visit our donate page for more information and an Amazon list for current needs.

Yes, we are a registered nonprofit organization, and all monetary or in-kind donations are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law.

We understand that sometimes it’s not the right fit. We’ll always take our animals back and work to find them a better match.
