Rainbow Bridge

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing – they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together…

Miss Blue

In Honor of Miss Blue

Miss Blue was the faithful companion of Charles Henderson and he recently lost Miss Blue to cancer. Miss Blue was given the most wonderful gift of all… the gift of life, love and a forever home.

Thank you, Charles, for your generous donation to NCHS in honor of Miss Blue.
Update 2009: Thank you again Charles! In honor of the second anniversary of Miss Blue’s passing, our dear friend Charles made a contribution to our organization. We will use it in the spirit in which it was intended – to help other dogs to hopefully know the love and commitment that your Miss Blue had until the end!

In Honor of Milo

Milo, thank you for being Mahin’s unfailing companion for all these years and such a loving part of our family. We love you and will miss you, terribly. But we will never forget you.

I have done mostly what men do, And pushed it out of my mind; But I can’t forget, if I wanted to, Four-Feet trotting behind. Day after day, the whole day through – Wherever my road inclined – Four-Feet said, “I am coming with you!” And trotted along behind. Now I must go by some other round – Which I shall never find – Somewhere that does not carry the sound of Four-Feet trotting behind.

In Honor of Suzy

Suzy was a wonderful companion to Cissy and her best buddy Cricket.

Note from Cissy:
Here are several pics of Suzy I like so pick the one you like. The one of her on the sofa with her toy was the last picture I took of her. She had just been groomed for her summer short hair “do”. I did put the toy there when I took the pic as she always opens her legs for a belly rub and thought it would give her some modesty, lol. She did wrap her paws around the toy tho.

I am grateful to your organization for giving me 2 wonderful pets.
